Sanskrit

For more than 2000 years, Sanskrit was the medium of classical Indian literature. Knowledge of Sanskrit provides a key to a first-hand understanding of classical religious and philosophic texts in South Asia and is especially important for the study of Hinduism and Buddhism. There is also a large body of poetic and scientific texts in Sanskrit. Learning Sanskrit will make it easier to learn, understand, and communicate in other South Asian languages.
