Department of African Cultural Studies: Assistant to the African Languages Program Director (50% TA)

The Department of African Cultural Studies seeks a 50% TA to serve as Assistant to the African Languages Program Director for the 2021-22 academic year. Duties include assisting with training and supervision of TAs for multiple African languages, leading monthly pedagogy chats with new and continuing language instructors, managing a small library of pedagogical materials and an online repository of instructor-created materials, meeting regularly with the Director and/or Associate Director of the African Languages Program, and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum requirements: experience in teaching a foreign or second language, writing syllabi, and using Canvas; excellent communication skills; UW-Madison graduate student in good standing

Desirable skills: coursework in language pedagogy; experience working in teams; experience supervising or training peers
