Studying languages has enriched my life in countless ways.

Language not only gave me the confidence to become a strong leader within the Hmong community, but also to become more aware of the cultural differences we have in the world.

Living or working in the country of the language you are studying is a "must." Only then can you appreciate the culture and fully develop a knowledge of the language.

I love being able to speak a language that so few people know!

Language has enriched my life professionally because I am qualified for many different positions based on my language skills and have the ability to acquire more.

Everyday, I get to use my own experiences to benefit others all while continuing to learn about the world around me through other languages and cultures. Langauge learning does not end in the classroom. Get out there, put yourself in uncomfortable situations and don't be afraid to make mistakes!

My familiarity with the language has opened up many doors to amazing parts of the Indian cultural landscape that would have otherwise been inaccessible to me.

If you enjoy learning a language, pursue it fully and experience some of the cultures that speak that language. It will enrich your life.

I feel passionate about learning, exploring, and growing through language education and cultural understanding.

If possible, I recommend everyone spending some time in another country during their time at UW-Madison.
