My study of Korean has given me the opportunity to travel, study, and work in a foreign country, and has allowed me to experience the Korean culture in a way that would not be possible otherwise.
My language classes were some of my favorite classes at UW-Madison! They were very different from my other classes because there was a very small class size so you were really able to ask questions and really get to know your professors!
I realized that language was my ticket to holding on to this second home across the Atlantic, and I wasn't going to be satisfied until I got to my destination.
Portuguese has been an integral part of my everyday personal life since I first started studying it.
Learning Kazakh was an entirely new experience, as it brought me out of my comfort zone and exposed me to an entirely new culture with vastly different beliefs, traditions and customs.
Through Spanish, I have access to another culture and world of information.
Be open-minded, go abroad and explore and use the language you are learning in real life situations.
By knowing another language and living abroad, not only did my intellect grow and deepen, my heart also opened.
