Language(s): Hebrew

Graduation Year: 2017

What have you done since graduating from UW-Madison?

I work for the Institute of Southern Jewish Life as an Education Fellow, based in Jackson, Mississippi. I travel throughout the South to different Jewish communities and assist in their religious schools. In September, I will start graduate school at DePaul University for school counseling.

What motivated you to study this/these languages?

I thought it would help my Jewish studies degree and make myself more diversified as a potential employee.

How have these languages enriched your life?

It’s a common connection to others, and it has helped me in my current career path tremendously.

What do you remember about your UW language classes? How were they different from other classes you took?

I loved my language classes! They were small and tight-knit. We had the same people in classes from semester to semester and it was so nice to have familiar faces at such a large university. I still keep in touch with some people from my classes.

How have you maintained or improved your language(s) since graduation?

I use it in my job all the time.

What advice do you have for current language students?

Having a language on your resume is a huge boost!
