My language classes were some of my favorite classes at UW-Madison! They were very different from my other classes because there was a very small class size so you were really able to ask questions and really get to know your professors!

Language learning makes me feel less cut off from the world.

I can do things personally and professionally that limit others.

You never know where your language will lead you.

My time in Spain also allowed me to develop my own interests and come to appreciate what I love and want to be doing with my life.

Being a speaker of Japanese is an important part of my identity today, and something that I'll always carry with me.

I feel passionate about learning, exploring, and growing through language education and cultural understanding.

Everyday, I get to use my own experiences to benefit others all while continuing to learn about the world around me through other languages and cultures. Langauge learning does not end in the classroom. Get out there, put yourself in uncomfortable situations and don't be afraid to make mistakes!

Learning about Scandinavian culture and politics has really shaped my views on the world—and I owe my marriage to my Norwegian class! It doesn't get much better than that.

Through my study of Portuguese I have met friends, travelled and had adventures, learned new ways of seeing the world, and generally had an enormous amount of fun.
