The ancient Greeks invented drama, history, philosophy, medicine, and democracy. By the end of the first year, you will be able to read basic works of ancient Greek literature. In addition to improving your English vocabulary, spelling, and knowledge of medical and scientific terminology, studying ancient Greek cultivates the ability to read closely and astutely, think logically, and express yourself precisely and lucidly, which are valuable skills that every employer wants. The study of Greek also correlates with improved scores on such standardized tests as the MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, and GRE. In short, learning Greek is valuable… and fun!
