Alumni Profiles

Once you open yourself up to learning world languages, they will open you up to the world.

Find a group of people to speak with outside of class. The best way to keep up your language skills is to speak as much as possible!

By learning a new language, it helps us to love one another and acknowledge those who speak a different language.

I feel like everything I learn in a language class, I bring home with me and it becomes a part of my life.

Be open-minded, go abroad and explore and use the language you are learning in real life situations.

If you enjoy learning a language, pursue it fully and experience some of the cultures that speak that language. It will enrich your life.

Through language study, I have been lucky enough to travel, live and study in-region and forge strong friendships. A strong command of Spanish and Portuguese has also set me apart professionally in a job market where international experience and expertise are increasingly sought-after attributes.

Living in China has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life...Chinese has made me a better person.

Learning Italian has opened my eyes to a new culture (and cuisine!) in a way that I wouldn't understand without knowing the language itself.

My study of Korean has given me the opportunity to travel, study, and work in a foreign country, and has allowed me to experience the Korean culture in a way that would not be possible otherwise.
